The posse was founded in 1965 under the inspiration and guidance of Sheriff Malcolm Beard as a non profit organization.  Our membership is comprised of a combination of volunteers and full time sworn deputies.  The majority of our posse is civilians that donate their time to support the numerous functions and services we provide for the community. From lost person searches, assisting in disasters to community awareness demonstrations at area elementary schools.
